Kevin Brown held Cincinnati scoreless on just 3 hits and second baseman
Quilvio Veras connected with a 'big fly' and scored 3 times at Cinergy Field
as the San Diego Padres beat the Cincinnati Reds 5 to 0.
Brown(1-0) was simply too much for the Cincinnati batters. He allowed only 3
hits and 2 walks in 9 innings. Brown chalked up 11 strikeouts. San Diego
had only 6 hits for the afternoon.
Mike Remlinger(0-1) suffered the loss. He surrendered 4 hits and 2 walks in 6
innings. 'He was really impressive today,' Remlinger said of his
counterpart. 'Our guys were just swinging at air.'
