The St. Louis Cardinals and the Los Angeles Dodgers locked up in an exciting
one-run game at Busch Stadium.  The final score was the St. Louis Cardinals
4, the Los Angeles Dodgers 3 in 12 innings.
 
The score was knotted at 2 after nine innings.  St. Louis came out the victor
in the 12th inning.  Delino Deshields ripped a base-knock.  Deshields got a
good lead and stole second.  After an out was recorded, Ray Lankford then
would hit into a fielders choice giving St. Louis the victory and sending the
19,218 home-town fans home happy.  St. Louis had a total of 8 hits for the
game.  
 
Jeff Brantley(1-0) got the win allowing no runs in 1 inning. Frank
Lankford(0-1) was the losing pitcher in relief.  He pitched 1/3 of an inning
giving up 1 hit and no walks.
