Steve Trachsel went 8 strong innings and Mickey Morandini had 2 base hits and
2 RBI at Wrigley Field as the Chicago (NL) Cubs beat the Montreal Expos by
the count of 6 to 4.
 
Montreal never recovered after Chicago (NL) took the lead in the 3rd inning
when they tallied 2 runs on 2 hits.  The key at-bat was by Henry Rodriguez
who made the crowd happy when he clubbed a two-run home run.  Montreal had a
chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.  
 
Trachsel(1-0) got the win allowing 2 runs in 8 innings. Rod Beck recorded his
2nd save.  Javier Vazquez(0-1) was hit with the loss.  He was knocked around
by Chicago (NL), allowing 8 hits and 3 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.
