Luis Gonzalez had 4 hits and 2 RBI as the Detroit Tigers really laid it on the
Tampa Bay Devil Rays 15 to 5.
Gonzalez had a good evening at the plate. He hit a bases-empty home run in
the 4th inning, doubled in the 5th inning, delivered a one-base hit resulting
in a run in the 6th inning and hit a single in the 8th inning. Detroit bats
were hot in the 4th inning with 4 runs on 3 hits and the 6th inning which saw
them plate 5 runs on 5 hits. Detroit had 16 hits overall, while Tampa Bay
had 9.
Brian Moehler(1-0) was the winner allowing 5 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings.
Rolando Arrojo(0-1) was tagged with the loss. He was knocked around pretty
good, giving up 7 runs in 5 innings.
