The Colorado Rockies defeated the Houston Astros in 10 innings by a score of 4
to 1 at The Astrodome.
The game was deadlocked at 1 after nine full innings. Colorado ended up
winning it in the 10th inning. Vinny Castilla led off and started the rally
when he stroked a single. Doug Henry then let a pitch get away from him.
After an out was recorded, Jeff Reed then drew a walk. Neifi Perez stepped
in and he hit a single driving in a run. After another out, Mike Lansing
stepped up to the plate and he drew a walk to load the bases. Ellis Burks
added to the rally and doubled which accounted for two additional runs. Both
teams ended up with 7 hits on the night.
The win went to Mike Dejean(1-0) who allowed no runs in 2/3 of an inning.
Dejean got help from Jerry Dipoto who was credited with his 2nd save.
Henry(0-1) took the loss in relief.
