One run was the difference at Bank One Ballpark as the Arizona Diamondbacks
defeated the San Francisco Giants in 10 innings 4 to 3.
 
The score was knotted at 3 after nine innings.  Arizona was victorious in the
10th inning.  After an out was recorded, Jay Bell doubled.  Travis Lee
followed next and he drew a walk.  Matt Williams then drew a walk to load the
bases.  Brent Brede followed and he smacked a single giving Arizona the win
and sending the home town fans into a frenzy.  San Francisco had 11 hits in
the game while Arizona had 8, but Arizona had the more timely hits.  
 
The win was credited to Barry Manuel(1-0) who went 1 inning allowing no runs.
The losing pitcher was John Johnstone(0-2) in relief.  He surrendered 2 hits
and 2 walks in 1 and 1/3 innings.
