Paul Sorrento went deep and had 2 RBI at Tropicana Field as the Tampa Bay
Devil Rays won a thriller over the Chicago (AL) White Sox in, 9 to 8.
 
Tampa Bay won the game with a run in the bottom of the 9th inning.  Wade Boggs
delivered a single.  After an out was recorded, Sorrento came up and he
slapped a one-base hit.  Sorrento took second on the throw.  Bubba Trammell
then doubled making Tampa Bay victorious to the delight of the the home town
crowd.  Tampa Bay had 14 hits overall, while Chicago (AL) had 11.  
 
Roberto Hernandez(1-0) went 1 inning allowing 1 run for the win. Tom
Fordham(0-1) was the loser in relief.  He pitched 1 and 2/3 innings allowing
3 hits and no walks.
