Delino Deshields touched them all as the St. Louis Cardinals outscored the Los
Angeles Dodgers 5 to 2.
 
St. Louis scored 3 runs in the decisive bottom of the 5th inning.  The big
moment was provided by Cliff Politte who elicited a roar from the hometown
fans when he ripped a one-base hit scoring two baserunners.  Although they
lost, Los Angeles did out-hit St. Louis 11 to 7.  
 
The win went to Politte(1-0) who allowed 2 runs in 6 innings. Politte got help
from Juan Acevedo who was credited with his 1st save.  Chan Ho Park(0-1) was
tagged with the loss.
