Chili Davis hit 3 doubles as the New York (AL) Yankees defeated the Anaheim
Angels by a score of 8 to 2 at Edison Field.
New York (AL) took the lead for good in the top of the 5th inning with 2 runs
on 4 base hits. After an out was recorded, Davis started the rally when he
doubled. Chad Curtis dug into the batters box next, but he struck out.
Scott Brosius then laced a base-hit bringing in a run. Brosius took second
on the throw. Joe Girardi stepped in and he hit a single scoring the final
run of the inning. New York (AL) ended up with 14 hits for the game while
Anaheim had 7.
Andy Pettitte(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 7 innings. Chuck
Finley(0-1) took the loss. He gave up 8 hits and 2 walks in 6 and 2/3
innings.
